How To Tell If a Female Coworker Likes You

January 6, 2021 by Neil Appleby

Well, we’ve taken a lengthy break here at Boompi, but we’re back at it now with our batteries fully recharged.

Today, we’ve got something short and sweet for you with a glimpse at how to tell if a female coworker likes you.

Read on to see whether or not you should consider taking things further with a colleague. Is it worth your while or a recipe for disaster?

Let’s get started by exploring some of the most common signs that a colleague might be interested in more than just friendship.

Top 10 Ways To Tell if a Female Coworker Likes You

  1. She’s always looking at you
  2. She touches you or brushes into you
  3. She starts asking about what you do outside work
  4. She wants to exchange news about friends and family
  5. She initiates contact outside of work
  6. You start hearing about her from other co-workers
  7. She spots any changes you make
  8. She brings you coffee or food
  9. She asks you to walk her to her car
  10. She directly asks you to spend time together outside work

1) She’s always looking at you

Frequent and prolonged eye contact is one of the key markers of attraction. You can tell a great deal about someone by simply looking into their eyes.

How is it possible to gauge what someone is thinking by their eyes, though?

Eyes are known as the window to the soul with just cause. If you catch your female coworker regularly glancing in your direction and then breaking eye contact when she sees you looking at her, there’s every chance she’s secretly interested in you.

While this is no guarantee that you should start looking to pursue things, it’s a strong early indicator of interest.

2) She touches you or brushes into you

Stepping things up to a more physical nature, think about whether your female colleagues ever brush against you when they could just as easily have stayed clear, or whether they touch you on the hand or arm.

If someone physically touches you in the workplace, it’s an indication of obvious approval. If a female coworker touches you gently, it’s also a sign that she’s comfortable in your presence.

3) She starts asking about what you do outside work

When you’ve just finished up a meeting or a team project, does your coworker start speaking about more than work.

If she starts asking about your outside interests and weekend plans, she could be interested in taking things further.

It’s up to you how you react to this type of fishing expedition. If you fancy taking things further yourself, this is a golden opportunity. If you’re not romantically interested in your coworker, you can easily head off these advances.

4) She wants to exchange news about friends and family

If conversation with a coworker veers off work topics, this is a sign you at least have some common interests.

If you find a female coworker starts sharing lots of information with you about her friends, family, and personal life, she could be inviting you closer into her life.

5) She initiates contact outside of work

Conversation straying away from work topics is one thing, but if your female coworker starts trying to initiate contact outside of work, this is a sure sign she’s looking for a potential date.

Consider meeting up for a social drink to assess how you interact and get on with each other outside the office.

6) You start hearing about her from other co-workers

Have you been asked about your coworker by other colleagues?

If so, this could be just because people have picked up on the energy between the two of you or the signals you’re sending out.

Or, it could be that your coworker has been talking about you to others in the office.

Either way, this could point to more than a working relationship developing.

7) She spots any changes you make

The people you work alongside probably see more of you than most of your friends do.

It’s not surprising, then, if coworkers pick up on little changes you make, whether that’s your wardrobe, hairstyle, or behavior.

Now, most coworkers won’t point these differences out. Why would they? If your female colleague has her eye on you, though, expect her to comment on notable changes, specifically whether or not she feels it’s an improvement or a retrograde move.

8) She brings you coffee or food

Any time a busy coworker takes time out of their day to bring you a coffee or snack, it’s a sign they could be interested in friendship or more.

9) She asks you to walk her to her car

If you’ve worked late and your colleague asks you to escort her to her car, she might just want the security of walking alongside someone. More likely, though, she has an interest in spending at least some time with you outside of work, even if only to assess whether to take things further.

Be the perfect gentleman and use this as a chance to determine whether your coworker might enjoy dinner or drinks.

10) She directly asks you to spend time together outside work

If your colleague tries to make social arrangements, you’re more than likely already on your way to a potential date.

Start with a casual coffee and see how things progress from there!

Dating a Coworker: Yes or No?

This is entirely at your own discretion. Some people feel happier segregating business and pleasure, while for others dating a coworker is perfectly natural, indeed desirable.

Do what makes you feel right, and we hope the above pointers help out if you’re trying to work out how to tell if a female coworker likes you.
